Buchanan Street

Buchanan Street
Pub Stop: The Horse Shoe Bar

Buchanan Street forms one of the main shopping drags in Glasgow although aside from the generic stores that you can find in any major city this street boasts some of the most impressive and interesting Victorian architecture in the city. ‘Look up’ is the best advice!

Architecture enthusiasts can visit The Lighthouse [53], Scotland’s Centre for Architecture and Design and for art you can head to GOMA [55] at Royal Exchange Square. If you’re looking to end your day here there are plenty of places for a drink and something to eat on the square or at Bar 10 [54] on Mitchell Lane.

The Horse Shoe Bar [52] is our recommendation if you’re hungry for some Glasgow nostalgia after your tour. With some of the most intact Victorian features in the country it led the way in pub design when it was re-designed in the late nineteenth century.
