Kelvinhall
A Wander

Coming out of the station to Dumbarton Road turn right to Mansfield Park, in and around which there are a number of
great pubs, cafes and delis. The Lismore Bar [23], Cafe Rio [24] and Delizique [25] are highlights and there is also
a farmers market here every second Saturday. Further up Hyndland Street, Cottiers [26] (a converted church) houses a bar, restaurant and theatre.

Alternatively, turn left out of the station, walk along Dumbarton Road and you will come to the famous Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum [27]. Set within the beautiful and vast Kelvingrove Park the building was designed by Sir John W. Simpson and E.J. Milner Allen and built in 1901. The museum houses Salvador Dali’s ‘Christ of Saint John of the Cross’ and Avril Paton’s painting ‘Windows on the West’. Stories that the architect jumped to his death from one of the towers after discovering the building was built back-to-front are untrue.
