Visit: Riverside Museum

Jump off here to pay a visit to the Riverside Museum [22] (Transport Museum) which includes an original subway car and replica Victorian station and street. Designed in a ‘deconstructivist’ style by architect Zaha Hadid, the sinuous ‘swoosh’ form and impressive wave shaped facades is one of the latest attempts to regenerate the riverfront in Glasgow. The building sits as an ultra modern object on ground that for years has borne the scars of a declining ship building industry, the likes of which can still be seen in many locations along the river. Inside the contemporary interior is juxtaposed with transportation from all eras with huge locomotives, classic bikes and cars as well the subway memorabilia which provides information on the cable system originally used to pull the subway cars which was unique
to Glasgow.
